Aryton Senna was born on the 21st March 1960 in Santana, Sao Paulo. He was born into a relatively wealthy family and he got his first kart at 4 years old. Senna karted all throughout his childhood. His first win came when he was 13 in his first official race at the Interlagos Go-Kart Track. As he grew up Aryton Senna won races and championship titles all across South America. In 1981 Aryton Senna moved to Britain to pursue his dream of becoming an F1 racer. He entered Formula Ford 1600 winning the title and winning 13 of the 18 races. Senna then continued onto to Formula Ford 2000 winning the title and 22 out of 28 races. It was then that the racing world started paying attention to the 22 year old Brazilian. In 1983 Senna became the champion in British F3 racing and had been approached by three F1 teams to come and test cars. It was only a matter of time before he would enter F1. He started his F1 career at Toleman producing one of the greatest races ever in Monaco only coming 2nd to Alain Prost's Mclaren. Senna the next year moved to Lotus, where in three seasons he started pole position 16 times and won 6 races. Senna moved to Mclaren in 1988 as he wanted to be in contention for World Championships and that he did. In 1988 in which Mclaren won 15 of the 16 races. Senna beat his teammate Alain Prost with eight wins to his seven to take his first driving world title. In 1989 Prost, got his revenge winning the championship that season. In 1990 Aryton Senna got back at him taking out his Ferrari to win the championship that season. In 1991 his championship win was straightforward winning most of the races that season. In his career, Senna was nicknamed the King of Monaco winning 6 straight times. He moved to Williams to wrap up his career but on May 1 1994, something awful happened. At the San Marino Grand Prix, Senna's Williams was leading the Grand Prix and it suddenly spun off the Imola track and hit the concrete wall at Tamburello Corner sadly passing away. It came as a shock to the world and many people attended his funeral in Sao Paulo. Over his F1 career, Aryton Senna drove 161 Grand Prixs, taking pole 65 times, winning 41 races, winning three drivers championships and driving for Toleman, Lotus, Mclaren and Williams.
